The Food Programme Lard Making lard at home.
Ollie and Tim chopped pork fat into small pieces. These were put in a pan on the hob on a medium heat, with a splash of water. They cooked it for around 20 minutes until the water had boiled off and the pieces of fat had started to go brown. Ollie used a potato masher to press the pieces of fat to release as much oil as possible. They then sieved the fat into a jar, ready to be stored in the fridge.
